BLOGGING
CLINICS
Starting
on April 8th and running for four sessions, we will
offer participants the opportunity to create a blog
using Blogger, or a blogsite using the WordPress
publishing platform, as well as an integrated RSS
feed that will allow attendees to publicize their
blog or blogsite throughout the online community.
Attendees
who register for both the blog/blogsite and RSS
feed clinic will receive a 512 mg USB 2.0 Flash
drive that will include additional information and
resources for understanding blog promotion (a $50
value).
Each
clinic will be held in the computer lab, room 253
at Barrington Middle School, 20 Haley Drive,
Barrington, NH. Each clinic is limited to 24
participants.
**Participation
in a blog and RSS feed clinic is essential if you
plan to attend the How to Make Money with Your Blog
clinic in May.**
Building
a Blog in Blogger - Tuesday, April 8th
6:30 - 8:30pm, $125.00pp

Description:
This high intensity session will take the guesswork
out of setting up a blog using the Blogger
platform. This clinic will assist you with choosing
your blog name, choosing the layout, selecting the
optimal settings for your blog, setting up the
parts of the layout and optimizing them for the
content. We'll integrate the blog with Google's
gadgets and fine tune it for publishing onto the
web.
Level:
Beginner to Intermediate ability
Applicable
for: Entrepreneurs and authors who want to
start a blog to help market their product or
service and want to use this as an online channel
to maximize their exposure or in unison with an
existing website. This platform is not a
replacement for designing a website.
Must haves:
blog name chosen with backup name (we will provide
in class evaluation of the name), title and
description for header, about us description for
side bar, valid e-mail address that is accessible
online. Additional instructions will follow upon
registration.
Integrating
your Blogger Blog with an RSS Feed -
Tuesday, April 29th
6:30 - 8:30pm, $125.00pp

Description:
This session will show you how to set up and
burn an RSS feed using Feedburner and how to
integrate widgets from Feedburner into your Blogger
blog's architecture. You will learn how to set up
both beginning and advanced widgets that will help
you to promote your blog. Time permitting, you will
learn how to integrate other forms of social media
marketing into your RSS feed auto delivery
system.
Level:
Beginner to Advanced ability
Applicable for:
People who want to push their blog content out
to the online world and who want to add advanced
features to their blog.
Must haves:
valid e-mail address that is accessible online
(i.e. Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail). Additional
instructions will follow upon
registration.
Building
a Blogsite in WordPress - Tuesday,
April 15th 6:30 - 8:30pm, $125.00pp

Description: This session is for advanced
Internet users who understand the technology and
want to build a blog that will also be used as a
website, referred to as a blogsite. You will learn
how to install WordPress onto your host's servers,
create a MySQL database for your WordPress
blogsite, set up your theme package and install for
the blogsite. You will also learn about the setup
and customization process, advanced widgets and
organization through design and code.
Level:
Advanced ability - must be familiar with html
code.
Applicable for:
People who want to start a website with an
integrated blog without having to go with a costly
development package from a web design
firm.
Must haves:
hosting package on Linux servers with MySQL
database potential and cPanel access from a MAC
computer with FireFox browser. Domain name already
setup and a valid e-mail address that is accessible
online. Additional instructions will follow upon
registration.
Integrating
your WordPress Blogsite with an RSS
Feed - Thursday, May 1st 6:30 -
8:30pm, $125.00pp

Description: This session will show you how

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Ben
Adams
has over 10 years of experience in
marketing, online promotion and search
engine marketing. He is the marketing
manager for a niche product manufacturing
company located in Dover, NH. He is also
the owner of Spiral Media, a marketing
company he founded in 2004.
Spiral
Media specializes in online marketing and
promotion through a combination of search
engine optimization, sponsored listings
services and web 2.0
technologies.
Ben
continually monitors, researches and
consults about leading-edge online
promotion strategies, including web logs,
RSS feeds, syndicated content, community
portals, social networking sites, and
social tagging.
Ben
graduated from the University of New
Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in the
social sciences and decided to focus his
attention on research and analysis. He
worked in the print and design industry
for five years and then earned his MBA,
with a focus in marketing, from Southern
New Hampshire University.
